'PLL' Preview: The Problem With Paige
As one does with a favorite TV show, I forgive the characters on Pretty Little Liars for quite a lot.
I forgive Spencer for thinking she's smarter than the police, I forgive Emily for letting her emotions control her, I forgive Aria for countless couture choices and I forgive the show some of its less than believable plot developments. But the one thing I can't forgive The PLLs for is having complete amnesia regarding Paige's season two behavior.
This is a girl who took her closeted conundrum out on Emily by trying to drown her in the pool! Yet they all now pat Em on the back for dating Paige since it's helping her move beyond Maya.
Well, I'm thrilled to report Tuesday's all-new episode, titled Single Fright Female, finally paints Paige in a properly critical light! "What's very cool about our show is that because Ali was such a controversial character, she has a story with everybody in Rosewood," Troian Bellisario tells TheInsider.com.
"Slowly the girls have found some out, but we don't know anything about Paige's history with Ali. So when Spencer finds out the story, there's a lot of frightening details that ruffle Spencer's features and send up all these red flags for her. Yet, she has to deal with Emily, who is in love with Paige."
Not only does Spencer finally cast a doubtful glare in Paige's direction, but she actually addresses the drowning incident!
"Spencer brings that up," Troian exclaimed. "That's actually a line I have in the next episode, 'I get that you're romantic now and that's great, but she tried to drown you!' I mean, why are they forgetting this?!?" You said it T!
And for those of you who think Paige is clearly the one behind the summer finale's highly-touted Betrayal, Troian cautions, "[You] are very wise to be suspicious of Paige, but our fans are so smart, they know it's not the whole story."
Pretty Little Liars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
