On May 18, the world shuddered at the sight of a muscle-bound Matthew Fox laying the hurt on an MMA opponent in the new film, Alex Cross. But the newly released trailer reveals that Matthew's new character is even more of a far cry from Lost's benevolent Dr. Shephard than we previously thought.

In the film, he plays Picasso - a rocket-launching, scuba-diving, sharp-shooting, sadomasochistic assassin who says things like, "inflicting pain is a crucial part of my true calling."

Alex Cross, which opens in theaters on October 19, also features Ed Burns, Cicely Tyson, Jean Reno, Rachel Nichols, Giancarlo Esposito and Tyler Perry taking over the lead role from Morgan Freeman.
