Actor Demián Bichir has stirred quite the buzz as of late! With his recent Oscar nomination, dashing good looks and charming personality, many have come to dub Demián the "Mexican George Clooney."

"I've heard that before and I think it's really silly, I mean there's no comparison," said Bichir, brushing off the association to his fellow Academy Award nominee. "I admire George Clooney so much. He's such a great actor and his commitment towards specific issues in films and that type of work and all that, I admire him very much."

While some would relish in the flattering comparison, in his own way Demián affirms his Clooney-esque title as he self-effacingly offers The Insider's Brooke Anderson suggestions more apt to draw a similarities to than George. "I'm more like the Homer Simpson," he jokes, "or Peter from Family Guy. That's a little more like me, especially when I gain weight."

Bichir is among only a handful of Hispanic actors and actresses to have ever scored Oscar nominations, including Salma Hayek (Frida), Benicio del Toro (Traffic, 21 Grams), Rita Moreno (West Side Story) and Andy García (The Godfather: Part III), to name a few.

Bichir's film, A Better Life tells the story of an undocumented gardener, Carlos Gallindo (Demián), struggling to give his teenage son a chance at "a better life" after his wife abandoned the two of them in their journey across the border into the United States.
