Kate Winslet revealed in an interview that she made a braless escape from a fire that engulfed the home of British tycoon Richard Branson in the Caribbean a few months ago.

Kate explained on the BBC's Graham Norton Show that when she awoke to the fire, she initially went to put on her bra but then had a quick change of heart. "I jumped up and ran immediately towards the fire because clearly I thought I could put it out," she joked.

The Contagion actress then said she told her two children to remain in their room for a moment and thought: "'Now what do I do?' -- Ran into the bedroom and put on a bra." But she quickly realized this would take too long, so: "Off came the bra, on with the T-shirt, grabbed the bag, grabbed the children and picked up granny."

Granny refers to Branson's 90-year-old mother and Kate has been creditied with saving her life. But she played down her heroic involvement in the interview with Graham Norton. "No, I didn't save her life. I carried her down the stairs, is the truth of it."
