According to Billboard, Little, Brown Books revealed that the Glee star has a young adult novel releasing this fall, based on the indie film that he wrote called Struck by Lightning.
This will mark Colfer's second novel, as he released The Land Stories: The Wishing Spell last month. The book debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times Children's Chapter Books bestseller list.
As for Lightning, the book is expected to be more of an extension of the story rather that a straight novelization of the film.
Colfer described the book as "a story about adolescence, told through the eyes of a teenager, for other teenagers."
In the movie, Colfer plays high school student Carson Phillips whose ambition to leave his small town for bigger things leads him to blackmailing more popular students into contributing to his literary journal, thus furthering his chances of acceptance to Northwestern University.
The new novel, Struck by Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal, debuts in print, ebook and audio on November 20.
