He shot to fame in 1990 with his catchy hit Ice Ice Baby, which became the first hip-hop single to soar to the top of the Billboard charts. He's done several cameos over the years and is getting some good press for playing himself in Adam Sandler's raucous comedy That's My Boy. Here are five things you may not know about Vanilla Ice.
1. Born Robert Matthew Van Winkle on Halloween, 1967 in Dallas, TX.
2. Got his start in the late '80s when he stepped onstage on a dare to perform his rapping and dancing at a Dallas nightclub and quickly became a local sensation.

3. While competing on the British TV talent show Dancing on Ice last year, he was knocked unconscious after falling during a routine and slamming his head on the ice.
4. Had a home-flipping business for 15 years and now has his own show on DIY Network called The Vanilla Ice Project -- in which he and a crew of contractors team up to renovate a certain room in a lucky viewer's home.
5. He's set to play Captain Hook in a live stage production of Peter Pan in England.
