Rooney Mara Causes A 'Giant' Dilemma
Rooney Mara is having a very good month: not only did she score an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, but The Giants are playing in next Sunday's Super Bowl.
For those who don't know, Rooney's grandfather (Wellington Mara) was the long-time co-owner of the Giants until her uncle John took over. Rooney's dad, Chris, has been the team's longtime talent evaluator. Needless to say, the family bleeds blue.
Interestingly Rooney's father admitted in a new interview, that he's more invested in the outcome of the Oscars than this year's Super Bowl. Watching your daughter compete for an Oscar is bigger than watching your draft picks compete for a ring, he said.
"I let out a pretty big scream," he told ESPN.com of nomination morning. "And then I cried. I thought she was on the bubble because the category was so tough this year. It was a very tough role for her, and a lot of hard work went into it, so this is her Super Bowl."
But just how did Chris handle seeing his daughter brutalized on screen in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? "That screening was the most nervous I've ever been before any game, including the Super Bowls. It wasn't for the faint of heart, but Rooney blew me away by how good she was. I forgot it was my daughter, and that just proved to me she was Oscar-worthy."
